Kanaiyalal Maneklal Munshi

He was popularly known as Kulapati Dr. K. M. Munshi. He was a writer,  politician, Indian independence movement activist and educationist. He was a  lawyer by profession, and a very famous name in Gujarati literature as well. An educational trust known by the name Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was also founded by him in 1938. The renovation of Somnath Temple which has a lot of historical importance was also undertaken due to efforts taken by him. He was the first Union Minister of Food and Agriculture of independent India.

He was the first Indian musician to give a performance in Europe which was held in the year 1933. A Hindustani classical singer , musicologist  and music educator was also known as, "Pranav Rang". In 1920, he presided the Bharuch District Congress Committee of Indian National Congress. His love for music made him the founder of a  music college which he established in Banaras Hindu University. He also used to love writing books and many books on Indian classical music and its history are written by him. In 1955, Pandit Omkarnath Thakur was honoured with "Padma Shri" award and "Sangeet Natak Academy" award was honoured to him in the year 1963.

Chhotubhai Purani and Ambubhai Purani

They were  the driving force of Indian gymnastics in Gujarat. In 1908,  they founded the first gymnasium: Shri Laxminath Vyayam Mandir, which was established in Vadodara. Also, Shri Batuknath Vyayam Shala was established in Bharuch. So much was their respect in the society that even Mahatma Gandhi addressed  them as Guruji.

Premchand Roychand

His father,  Roychand Dipchand was a Bharuch merchant. Premchand Roychand founded the Bank of Bombay and Bombay Stock Exchange. Popularly known as the "Cotton King" and "Bullion King", he was also very well known for his contribution to the society by donations to various cause.

Feroze Gandhi

He was a Parsi with his family belonging to Bharuch . He got married to Indira Gandhi. You can still have a look  at his ancestral home in Kotparsiwad in Bharuch. This suggests that the Nehru-Gandhi Family which is the biggest political family of India, has their familial ties with Bharuch.
