Weekend Getaways from Bharuch

Many such marvelous and holy spots for the picnic and  pilgrimage is offered by river Narmada in Bharuch. Few of the weekend getaways from Bharuch are discussed below.

Nareshwar Dham from Bharuch

It is located at a distance of 46 kilometers from the city of Bharuch. Nareshwar Dham is located at the banks of river Narmada. They have a very beautiful temple called as Nareshwar temple in this Dham..Nareshwar Dham also homes Rang Avadhoot Asharam of saint sant Avadhoot. Also behind the ashram is a splendid temple of Rang Avadhoot Swami.

There is a  miniature depicting Kailas Mountain and Mansarovar Lake at the premises which adds to the beauty of this place. If you are an avid reader, there are many bookshops and memento shops on the outskirts of this ashram to keep the visitors occupied.

You can reach Nareshwar Dham by  private vehicle. Public transport or tourist buses are also available that drive down to Nareshwar . It takes around 2 hours to reach Nareshwar Dham .Nearest railway station is Vadodra which 69kms away from Nareshwar dham.

Shuklatirth from Bharuch

Shuklatirth is a village located at a distance of 17 km from Bharuch. Shukla tirth is one of the holy tirths on the bank of river Narmada. The presence of Shukleshwar mahadev temples fives it the name "Shukla tirth". The flow of Narmada here is in the shape of half moon which is a delightful scene to be observed. Shukla tirth has  temple of Chagvaan Omkarnath Temple of Adishwar Mahadev and also temples of Gopeshwar, Ambaji and Maiyas which are quite famous. Shukla tirth has roads which are  made of concrete but they are very narrow making it difficult for the cars to navigate in these lanes.

Both Jhagadiya Jn Rail Way Station and Nabipur Rail Way Station are  very nearby railway stations to Shuklatirth.  However Vadodara Jn is the major Rail Way Station which is about 69 km from Shuklatirth. It takes approximately 1 hour to reach this place.

Kabirvad from Bharuch

 It is located at a distance of 18kms from Bharuch.  Kabirvad is locted on the other side of the River Narmada from Shuklatirth. Kabirvad is said to be around 1000 years old.Kabirvad has got its name from the famous sant Kabir.

There is  a huge banyan tree that is spread in over 2.5 acres. Due to this its origin cannot be made out. This place located in the middle of the flowing waters of holy Narmada is a not to be missed opportunity. Kabir temple, Kabir museum and a boat ride on Narmada river are added attraction to this place.

One can reach kabirvad by taking a boat ride on river narmada on wooden boats running on diesel engine or rowing boats . The boat can be hired at the price of Rs.200 for the round trip. The capacity of the boat is around 20 people and it makes you reach your destination in 30 minutes to cross the river. Special care to be taken during rainy season as Narmada is flowing in full force and sometimes it might become difficult to cross the river. It takes about an hour and half to reach this place.

Saantbheshwar from Bharuch

It is located at a distance of about 30 kms from Bharuch. Main attraction in this place is the sea of Kamboi village which has a  shivling" situated in the middle of sea that can be seen when water level decreases at Mahisagar Sangam bank, also known as “Gupt Kshetre”.

People come here to see this shivling of Santbheshwar Mahadev. A way has been built up to go till the shivling in case of low tides . There is a fair organised here this in the  Shravan month. Also, there is facility available at Saantbheshwar to stay and eat. This place has been developed with the efforts of Swami Vidhyanandji.

Raiyoli from Bharuch

Raiyoli is located at a distance of 187.5 km from Bharuch. This small rural hamlet also known as Dino land is situated near Balasinor which is a palaeontologist's dream as it homes one of the largest dinosaur fossils sites in the world. It will be an adventurous and historical experience in Raiyoli where  at least seven different species of dinosaur inhabited. It has also been claimed  that about 10,000 dinosaur eggs fossils have been discovered by the researchers. It is the only place in the world where tourists can actually lay their hands on 65 million year old egg fossil and other dinosaur remains.

Raiyoli does not offer many options to stay however Balsinor located nearby offers good hotels to stay. The Garden Palace Heritage hotel is a great option in Balasinor.  Timba Tuva located nearby has sulphur springs with natural hot water have great therapeutic value.

Nearest railway station is Vadali Luter Road which is located in and around 21.2 kilometer distance. Nearest airport to Raiyoli is Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport situated at 72.9 KM distance . It takes about 3 hours to reach this place.

Tithal Beach from Bharuch

It is located at a distance of 147.2 km from Bharuch. The huge uncharted coast line of Gujarat has many unexplored places and Tithal beach is one of them. Tithal beach is popular for  its and flat and black sandy beach. You can have fun by taking a dip in the sea waters. You need not worry about food as this beach has a perfect choupatty style atmosphere where you can find loads of food stalls

The Grand temple of Sai Baba and Swaminarayan are some of the places you can see while visiting Tithal beach. October to March, is the best time to enjoy at Tithal beach during  which the weather is pleasant. Hotel Adina palace is a good hotel to stay in.

If you are planning to take a car, then take Bharuch-Surat-Valsad route to reach Tithal and then board taxi to the beach. Valsad is the nearest railway station to Tithal located at a distance of 4kms.

Jambughoda and Champaner from Bharuch

Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary, located at a distance of 135.4 km from Bharuch and Champaner locted at a distance of 126.3 km from Bharuch could be combined for a weekend getaway. Jhambughoda has a touch of the ancient era and also are many hiking opportunities are available here in the forests which makes it a marvellous camping site. Jambughoda palace is a good option to stay. Champaner is a small town full of splendid architecture as it homes Kevada Masjid, Jama masjid, Nagina Masjid and a beautiful Fort. It is worth having the experience of both history and adventure.Chamapaner is UNESCO World Heritage Site.
